Tax Refund: Use your tax refund to purchase a year supply of your main necessities such as tissue, soap, detergents, toothpaste, etc. Be sure to use your Ibotta app to get cash back while shopping. If you don’t have Ibotta, you can sign-up, here, it’s FREE!

Use A Credit Card: Not to increase debt but to rack up reward points to take a family trip. I use my Southwest Chase credit card often to receive points. It’s very helpful to reduce costs for travel outside the state.

Plant A Garden: A garden is helpful to save money on fresh produce.

Meal Prep: Plan each meal ahead of time which helps proportion food for family dinners.

Air Dry Clothes: Cut cost by hanging clothes on a line instead of putting them in the dryer.

Cable: Ditch cable and stream everything using Amazon Firestick! It’s the most powerful streaming media stick allowing you to watch every sitcom and movie available online. You can purchase one, here.

Food: Meal planning, coupons and apps like Ibotta help to keep me under budget.

How To Lower Your Current Expenses

Use cash back sites like Ebates: If you don’t have an account with Ebates, why not? You can sign-up here.  Ebates is a pioneer in the cash back industry, allowing you to save money and get a percentage back of your purchase when you shop for things like shoes, flights, T.V, Internet, Walgreens, Groupon, etc..etc. Since we are going to shop anyway, we might as well save plus, receive money back. I highly recommend them.

Change your cellphone service: Switch your cellphone carrier to a Pre-Paid service. This is great for those who don’t use their phone much, maybe you are a text queen instead of a talker. Prepaid cards for your cellphone can last you months and you will save a ton of money.

Negotiate your bills:

If you have credit card debt or if you have student loan debt, you can call the creditors and negotiate your monthly payment to its lowest point. Negotiating the payment will allow you to have more in your budget for savings or other expenses. Give it a try!
