On Dec. 20th I celebrated a huge milestone, turning the BIG 3.0. We selected the Beaches Ocho Rios resort because of the Sesame Street theme, allowing both C3 and I to celebrate our birthdays together. C3 birthday was December 13th where we partnered with Old Navy for a fashion style event, read about it, here. I honestly was so involved with all of the activities at the resort, having fun and making it a memorable experience, that I left my camera inside of the hotel room for majority of the trip. If you followed our Instagram stories, you saw all the action as it happened.
I won a dance competition, swimming pool fun, water park slides, drinks galore, I had a blast! Here’s more details of the resort, plus, some video moments I captured. Read more, below:
The Drive To Beaches Ocho Rios Resort
After going through customs, we were greeted by a Sandals Resort represented asking us which resort were we staying at and our name. After looking up our details, she introduced us to Martin Reed, our driver, and shared that we have a private car reserved for our commute to the resort.
She then escorted us to the Sandals Resort lodging area, which was a beautifully decorated living space filled with juice, water, beer and appetizers. You can sit and wait for your shuttle to arrive but luckily we had a private car awaiting us so, we walked with Martin to our vehicle.
To our surprise, we had a cooler of wine, fruit, sushi, juice and pop to keep us energetic for the two hour ride.
The View + Room
We stayed in the beautiful Caribbean Ocean View King Suite. It’s perfect for a family retreat offering an abundance of natural light and space. The room comes with a king size bed, large en-suite bathroom, flat screen television, microwave, refrigerator stocked with Mondavi wines, surrounded with mahogany furniture.
The living space where the sofa sleeper and desk are leads out to a large walk-out balcony. Our room showed a view of the Caribbean sea.
On the first night of our arrival, we ate dinner at the beautiful Neptunes restaurant that is positioned right next to the beach. You can smell the water, hear the waves and the view is amazing! The staff was amazingly pleasant, we discussed Jamaican culture with the waiter, he really made us feel like home. Neptunes serve Mediterranean seafood plus more.
We visited this restaurant for a delicious buffet style breakfast served by the awesome staff, daily. They offered mimosa’s, freshly made smoothies, fruits, omelet station, breads, muffins and more.
Bar B.Q Park
This was a number one spot for us to grab a bite of eat. They served burgers, curly fries, amazing drinks and more. The Bar B.Q Park stayed open until 2am.
Pasta is one of my favorite meals and the Venetian offers gourmet style northern italian dinner options to fit every appetite. We visited this restaurant for dinner and left extremely impressed.
This restaurant offers French cuisine but unfortunately, I was unable to visit due to time constraints.
Everyday we received a newsletter at our doorstep with activities provided by the entertainment team, now our friends. Ajay, Ashly, and the infamous “Tom Cruise” are forever in our hearts.
The sesame street parade was the best! It has all of the leading characters in a parade starting at the front entrance to the main stage. The lively island drummers and dancers encouraged us to join in the parade, carry a flag and have some fun.
Candle Light Dinner On The Beach
My husband and the Beaches staff surprised me with a beautiful dinner on the beach for my birthday! It was stunning. My table was decorated with flowers and balloons, crisp linens, and candle lights added an elegant touch to a romantic dinner.
The special touches made my heart sing! The Beaches staff created a custom menu with my name on it, Mrs. Russells! The menu included all of my favorite dishes to eat which started with caesar salad, pasta, and a scrumptious chocolate cake. They even engraved a heart in the sand, C’mon! Amazing.
