Hilton Memphis Hotel Room

Memphis is an amazingly beautiful city rich in culture and history. With a short time frame, we tackled Memphis within 36 hours. Take a look at our adventures then create your own when planning a trip to Memphis.

Day One

Arrival

If you’re flying in from out of state like we did, rest assured. The Memphis International Airport is one of the easiest to navigate! The car rental is on site, the moving walkway was easily accessible, the hospitality of each worker was, love and the food at the airport was just as delicious as in town.

After a quick 1 hour and 15 minute flight from Chicago, we landed and headed to baggage claim downstairs. Grabbed our bags and headed to the car rental facility, a short walking distance but, the moving walkway was an added bonus.

Approximately 11 minutes away from the airport,  we unpacked and settled into the beautiful Hilton Memphis Hotel. To minimize costs, we stayed approximately 20 minutes away from the nightlife, also known as Beale street where rates for hotel rooms ranged from $400 plus a night. After perusing through a few reviews of the Hilton Memphis Hotel, we booked and it fit perfectly within our budget.

We stayed on the 17th  floor and the view was beautiful. The bed was so comfortable and the feather pillows were plush yet firm. We also had a large screen TV, dresser, desk and seating chair, everything we needed for a quick trip.

We scurried on down to the lower level of the hotel just in time for the breakfast buffet. Upon entry, we were greeted by two staff and seated next to the window with  an amazing view of blue water and ducks. The floor to ceiling windows, comfortable seating and clean tablescape made this the perfect spot before we headed out to explore Memphis.

Civil Rights Museum

A must see when traveling to Memphis is the beautiful Civil Rights Museum. It’s exhibits trace the history of the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S. from the 17th century to the present. Located at the newly renovated Lorraine Motel, the place of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. assassination on April 4th 1968.  The Civil Rights Museum interactive exhibits and amazing collections allowed us to walk through history and learn more about the challenges that shaped our culture into the 21st century. It’s a must see.

One and Only BBQ

For the first time in my life, I tried the fried pickles with dill dipping sauce and it was amazing! The flavors came together perfectly and sharing the large basket was not an option :).

Night Life

For amazing views of the city and to show off my dancing skills, we headed to the Madison Hotel Rooftop, Twilight Terrance. We relaxed while drinking a few custom cocktails, sitting next to the dancing fire-pit and basking in the sunset views of Memphis. The DJ played some of the hottest R&B, Pop & Hip Hop Music so, dancing was a must.

Day 2

Breakfast

We enjoyed another breakfast buffet at the Hilton Memphis. It was the most convenient, allowing us to sleep-in until 10 am with no worries.

Breakfast

We wrapped up our time in Memphis by taking a tour of the Stax Museum. This place is where some of the greatest in music was found! Over 1,000 records and sampling stations from some of the biggest in music including Isaac Hayes and pioneers like Tina Turner.
